A brush fire in west Baltimore is disrupting rail service in the area Tuesday afternoon.

City fire officials said the fire was reported around 1:18 p.m. near North Payson Street and West Lafayette Avenue.

Amtrak tweeted that trains 20, 91, 92, 94, 125, 171, 2117, 2155, 2159 and 2168 are expected to be delayed.

MARC Penn Line service was suspended between West Baltimore and Penn stations. Penn Line train 433 (1:30 p.m. Penn Station) is canceled. Penn Train 435 (2:35 p.m. Baltimore) will depart with a delay. Train 422 (1:25 p.m. Washington) remained at West Baltimore station as of 3:25 p.m.

Amtrak tweeted at 3:35 p.m. that fire crews were packing up their hoses and the power would be restored shortly. Residual delays will occur as at least 15 trains will take turns using two tracks to get through the area.

Amtrak tweeted that once overhead power and rail traffic resumes, residual delays are expected.
