Emory Young, President of the PTA Council of Baltimore County, has been appointed by Governor Larry Hogan to Baltimore County’s Board of Education.  Young will be filling the 2nd District seat vacated by Marisol Johnson.

Known as a thoughtful advocate for education, Young has a track record of balanced and levelheaded leadership for Baltimore County’s children and parents.  “Emory will be a strong voice for the parents of Baltimore County,” said Leslie Weber, Communications Chair for the PTA Council and co-founder of Advocates for Baltimore County Schools (ABCSchools), the largest public education advocacy coalition in the county. “He has a long history with the PTA.  He rolled up his sleeves and has worked very hard.”

The father of two has served as Baltimore County’s PTA Council President since 2014, and had led a local PTA before taking the position.

Young will be sworn in Tuesday Morning.

Johnson, who unexpectedly announced her resignation from the Board at the close of the June 13th meeting, filed on June 20 for the 2018 Gubernatorial Primary Election as a candidate for Baltimore County Council, District 2.

Jayne Lee will replace Young as Baltimore County’s PTA Council President.
