Shooting investigation underway at NC A&T State University

Greensboro Police say a man was shot and killed on the campus of North Carolina A&T State University late Thursday night.


Around 11:30 pm, campus police found an unidentified man suffering from a gunshot wound in a vehicle near Pride Hall.

The victim was taken to Moses Cone Hospital where he died from the injury.

Greensboro Police say there was a struggle between a woman who was visiting the campus and another unidentified man.

The woman notified campus security that this man had a gun.

Police say the woman and the unidentified man got into a brief struggle and the gun went off.

The woman was not shot, but received a minor injury. The armed man ran off from campus.

Police say their investigation hasn’t determined whether the fatal gunshot was the one fired during the struggle between the visitor and armed man.

NC A&T State University Campus Police and Greensboro Police are investigating this case. Greensboro Police is handling the homicide.

The deadly shooting at NC A&T is the third homicide in Greensboro in 24 hours.
