Tropical Storm Don formed Monday in the Atlantic Ocean.

The National Hurricane Center said the storm has 40 mph winds and is moving west at 17 mph in the most recent update posted Monday afternoon.

Don is the fourth named storm in 2017.

Officials said tropical storm warnings and watches are being issued for islands near the storm, including Barbados, St. Lucia and the Grenadines.

“The associated convection is not particularly well-organized, but there is a curved band located to the north of the center and a couple of bursts have formed closer to the small circulation center this afternoon,” the National Hurricane Center said.

The National Hurricane Center said that once Don moves into the eastern Caribbean, strong upper-level westerly winds and strong low-level easterly flow are likely to cause the small circulation to open up into a trough.

“As a result, dissipation is forecast within 72 hours,” officials said in Monday’s update.

Additional updates are expected on Don this week.
