Read Time:1 Minute, 6 Second

Each week, The Baltimore Sun will recognize one high school player from a boys sport and one from a girls sport for their athletic achievements.

Boys sport Athlete of the Week: Jackson Huck, Towson, baseball

The standout senior tossed a no-hitter in Towson’s  6-1 win over Franklin on Wednesday, the highlight of a 2-0 week that puts the defending Baltimore County champions 8-1 this season. Huck struck out 10 Indians in the win. In 21 innings pitched this season, he is 3-1 with a 1.00 ERA and 35 strikeouts.

Girls sport Athlete of the Week: Emma Penczek, Manchester Valley, lacrosse

In leading the No. 3 Mavericks (10-0) to three wins last week, the junior midfielder also reached an individual milestone with her 250th draw control, a new program record. In wins over No. 9 Century, Francis Scott Key and Mount Hebron, Penczek totaled 11 goals, four assists and 23 draw controls. The week’s highlight came in last Tuesday’s 6-5 win over Century in which she assisted on the tying goal before scoring the winning goal with 29 seconds left.

To nominate candidates, please email Glenn Graham at [email protected] by 11 a.m. Sunday with details about the student-athlete’s performance from the past week.
