[Baltimore Sun] Transformer box fire causes building evacuation in downtown Baltimore, fire officials say
Baltimore City Fire Department responded to a fire in a transformer box downtown Friday morning.
Around 10:30 a.m. Baltimore City firefighters responded to the 200 block of North Charles Street. According to the department, a building is being evacuated and no injuries have been reported. Several firetrucks and ambulances blocked parts of North Charles Street in downtown Baltimore, a department spokesperson said.
The fire department called BGE for assistance at the Park Charles Apartments at 218 N. Charles Street, according to BGE spokesperson Jane Ballentine. BGE de-energized the building so the fire department could enter to investigate, Ballentine said.
An investigation to determine the cause of the fire is ongoing.
