[Fox Business] Taco Bell rolling out limited-time Cheesy Street Chalupas

Taco Bell’s menu is getting a new option – Cheesy Street Chalupas – for a limited time.

The “street-sized” Cheesy Street Chalupas on Thursday made their debut at participating Taco Bell restaurants across the country and will continue to be sold “while supplies last,” according to the Yum! Brands subsidiary. They come in bundles of two.

Taco Bell said the Cheesy Street Chalupas contain “traditional street taco ingredients – like fresh onions and cilantro – remixed with premium proteins, all wrapped in chalupa shells that have been stuffed with melted mozzarella and pepperjack cheeses.” On top is a jalapeno ranch sauce.

The two protein options available for the Cheesy Street Chalupas are Cantina chicken or grilled steak.

THE STORY OF TACO BELL: HOW FORMER MARINE CREATED FAST-FOOD CHAIN WITH MEXICAN-INSPIRED MENU

Like their name suggests, the fast-food chain looked to street tacos and street food culture for inspiration for the offering. It also said it drew from the Quesalupa shell it first sold eight years ago.

Taco Bell set the price for a pair of Cheesy Street Chalupas at $5.49.

[Fox Business] Trump fundraiser at bitcoin conference asking $866,500 per seat

Former President Trump is holding a private fundraiser for his campaign at Bitcoin 2024 in Nashville this month, and attendees will have to shell out some major coin to attend.

An invitation for the fundraiser, first reported by Bloomberg, is asking $844,600 per person for a roundtable seat at the VIP reception, which comes with a photo taken with the Republican presidential nominee. Just to attend the reception and take a snap with Trump will set donors back $60,000, or $100,000 per couple.

Trump is headlining the bitcoin conference set for July 27, where other speakers include fellow presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and ARK founder and CEO Kathie Wood.

RIPPLE BACKS MARINE VETERAN, PRO-CRYPTO LAWYER IN BATTLE FOR ELIZABETH WARREN’S SENATE SEAT

Years ago, Trump referred to bitcoin as a “scam,” but fast-forward to 2024, and he and running mate Sen. JD Vance of Ohio have positioned themselves as the pro-crypto presidential ticket in the race.

Trump said in May that he would, if elected, end the “hostility” the crypto industry has faced from Biden regulators and Democrat lawmakers. Then last month, Trump offered a strong endorsement of bitcoin, claiming the cryptocurrency will help the U.S. become “energy dominant.”

[Fox Business] Marco Rubio defends Trump over Taiwan remarks, says US will discourage China from invading

Republican Senator Marco Rubio, who was a finalist to be Donald Trump’s running mate in the U.S. presidential campaign, said on Thursday he expected the U.S. would continue to support Taiwan under a Trump presidency.

Trump raised questions about his commitment to the democratically governed island claimed by China with his remarks in a June 25 interview published this week in which he said Taiwan should pay the U.S. for its defense.

When asked about Trump’s Taiwan comments, Rubio told a group of reporters on the sidelines of the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee that the “existential threat” Taiwan faced meant it should boost defense expenditures.

The Florida senator, an important voice on U.S. foreign policy as the second most senior Republican on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and a possible candidate for cabinet posts in any second Trump administration, said he expected Trump to continue to back Taiwan should he win the White House.

NEW TOP US ENVOY TO TAIWAN PLEDGES TO HELP ISLAND DEFEND ITSELF, CHINA RESPONDS WITH SHOW OF FORCE

“He’ll do what he did in his first term and that is … continue to support Taiwan,” Rubio said of Trump.

“I can’t speak for the Trump presidency, but I don’t have any worries about the U.S. being supportive of Taiwan and doing everything we can to discourage the Chinese from invading,” Rubio said.

Robert O’Brien, one of Trump’s former national security advisers, has also defended the former president’s remarks, saying on Wednesday he believed Trump meant to indicate that there should be more burden sharing for Taiwan’s security.

US APPROVES $360M SALE OF DRONES, MISSILES TO TAIWAN

Despite only having unofficial relations with Taiwan, the U.S. is its biggest backer and weapons supplier in the face of years of increased military pressure by China, which has never renounced the use of force to bring the island under its control.

Under the Taiwan Relations Act, Washington has committed to provide Taiwan with means to defend itself, but U.S. law does not mandate that Washington come to Taiwan’s aid if attacked.

While the U.S. has long followed a policy of “strategic ambiguity” on whether it would intervene militarily to protect Taiwan in the event of a Chinese attack, the island’s status is a constant source of friction between Beijing and Washington.
