[Baltimore Sun] Maryland weather: Showers expected throughout week; coastal flood warning issued Tuesday in Anne Arundel

Following a warm and sunny weekend, the Baltimore area is forecast to have chances of showers throughout the week, as well as coastal flooding on Tuesday.

As Tropical Storm Helene is predicted to form toward South Carolina early this week, the National Hurricane Center has not issued a Tropical Storm Advisory for the Baltimore area, though rain is expected here. The storm is predicted to cause heavy flooding in North and South Carolina while it moves northwest, according to the hurricane center.

Monday will be partly sunny with a high near 77, according to the National Weather Service. Monday night will be mostly cloudy, and the chance of showers will set in after 2 a.m. Rain will remain likely, along with the chance of a thunderstorm, until 11 p.m. Tuesday evening. The low will be 67, and the chance of precipitation will be around 60%.

The NWS issued a coastal flood warning from 2 a.m. Tuesday until 10 p.m. for the shoreline in Anne Arundel County. During this time, water could begin filling the Annapolis City Dock parking lot and surround the Kunta Kinte-Alex Haley Memorial

Showers are predicted to continue into Wednesday, with a high around 76 and the chance of precipitation at 50%. Wednesday night, the chance of precipitation will drop to 40%, and the low will be around 66.

The 40% chance of precipitation will extend into Thursday with cloudy conditions and a high near 77. Thursday night, there will be a slight chance of showers before 2 a.m. Conditions will be mostly cloudy with a low around 65.

Rain is expected to lighten up Friday morning with the day being partly sunny and having a high around 77. A slight chance of showers is expected to return in the afternoon after 2 p.m. On Friday night, showers are expected to cease by 8 p.m., and the low will be around 62.

Saturday and Sunday are predicted to have highs of 75 and 73, respectively. Saturday, there is a slight chance of showers throughout the day.
