A collision north of the Woodberry light rail station left one person with critical injuries Friday night, according to the Maryland Transit Administration.

MTA officers responded to a collision around 10:52 p.m. north of the station, according to a statement from MTA. A northbound light rail train struck a vehicle after it entered the light rail track area.

Emergency services secured the area and assisted passengers, according to the statement, and other authorities were “promptly notified and dispatched” from MTA Office of Safety Managemen and Risk Control, including medics and light rail supervision.

The driver of the vehicle sustained critical injuries and was taken to Shock Trauma, according to MTA.

A bus bridge ran from Camden Yards to the Falls Road light rail station to accommodate passengers during the crash, according to an MTA post on the social media platform X.

The light rail is operating on time Saturday, the MTA statement said, while the collision is under investigation.
