Read Time:2 Minute, 30 Second

The U.S. Marshals Service has joined the search for the suspect accused in the fatal shooting of a 17-year-old inside the Mall of Columbia in Howard County.

William Thomas Marshall III, 17, is wanted for the murder of Angelo Little, 17, according to the Howard County Police Department.

Back on July 27, Little was fatally shot inside the mall’s food court. Investigators said they believed Little was targeted and that an altercation led up to the shooting.

Howard County Police released surveillance video that captured the unknown suspect fleeing the mall after the shooting, later naming Marshall as the suspected killer and issuing a warrant for his arrest.

“I just don’t understand how somebody could just take him away from me like that,” said Charell Wilson, Little’s mother.

Wilson’s son was a senior at Homewood Center High School.

The mother has been left heartbroken and with many unanswered questions.

Police said they believe the victim and suspect were known to one another, but have yet to release Marshall’s believed motive.

“I shouldn’t be heartbroken like this,” Wilson said. No mother should have to bury their child. Your children are supposed to bury you. Everybody has a beginning date and an end date.  I’m not supposed to be here burying my child, at all.”

Another question that remains is whether this case is potentially connected to another, unsolved case involving the attempted murder of Little.

According to Wilson, back in April 2023, more than a year before her son’s murder, Little was shot multiple times in a neighborhood just a mile from the Columbia mall.

“My son was a victim of a shooting a year ago when he was shot nine times,” said Wilson. “No one came out to try to tell his story, to try to help the police figure out how he got shot, why he got shot, or where he got shot. Nothing.”

William Thomas Marshall III, 17, of Columbia, has been charged in the District Court of Maryland for Howard County with first-degree murder. Law enforcement is seeking the public’s assistance in locating this fugitive. (Handout)

Howard County Police confirm the attempted murder case remains under investigation and no arrests have been made.

“We don’t know if that case and this case are connected to one another but we are certainly looking into that possibility,” said Sherry Llewellyn, with the Howard County Police Department.

Investigators have released little additional details about Marshall. The law protects any prior criminal history he may have due to his age.

“Find who shot my child,” pleaded Wilson.

The US Marshals Service has joined the search for Marshall and has added a $20,000 reward to the existing $10,000 for information that will lead to the suspect’s arrest.

Anyone with information regarding Marshall’s whereabouts is asked to contact the Howard County Police or the Marshals Service at 202-819-5058.
