[Baltimore Sun] C. Milton Wright golf leads after first round of Class 2A/1A state championships
Powered by Jack Geyer’s opening round 1-under-par 70, C. Milton Wright leads after the first round of the Class 2A/1A state golf championships held Tuesday at the University of Maryland Golf Course.
The Mustangs’ four golfers combined to score 318, five shots ahead of second-place Damascus. South Carroll, last year’s state champion, is in third with a 330. Fallston sits in fourth with a 332, while Hereford is tied with Stephen Decatur in fifth with a 334.
Geyer’s 70 also gives him a three-shot lead in the boys standings ahead of Kent County’s Quentin Joiner and Nathan Smith of Queen Anne’s. Geyer’s teammate, Sean Downey, is in fourth place after shooting a 75. Fallston’s Cam Konkle and Southern-AA’s Winston Thomas are part of a six-way tie for fifth at 76.
C. Milton Wright’s other two golfers who contributed toward the team total are Ryan Kilchenstein (84) and Alex Ashman (89).
Harford Tech’s Kacy Day is two shots off the lead in the girls standings. Day shot a 6-over 77 and is tied for second place. Her teammate, Olivia O’Connor, is tied for fifth after shooting an 82. Sarai Moss of Fallston is also in that group with an 82.
The final round for both 2A/1A and 4A/3A starts at 9 a.m. Wednesday with a shotgun start.
