Boys athlete of the week

Ian Mauldin, Broadneck

On a Friday in which several players put up big numbers, the Bruins’ senior running back stood a cut above the rest by setting a program record for touchdowns in a game (5) against North County on Friday. Mauldin tied the school career rushing touchdown record (47) and is two touchdowns away from surpassing 2018 Capital Gazette Player of the Year Ethon Williams’ total career touchdowns mark (53).

“Watching Ian break the game TD record with five in the first half was so exciting,” Broadneck coach Rob Harris said. “His hard work is paying off and is a testament to the entire team — and this will not be his last.”
