[Baltimore Sun] GOP senators may not fulfill their constitutional duty | READER COMMENTARY
This question has been answered again and again (“Will GOP senators fulfill their constitutional duty? | STAFF COMMENTARY” Nov. 16). Republicans will do exactly what Mr. Trump tells them to do. If any demur, they will be replaced!
The naivete of the writer and of so many political commentators is breathtaking! Many of those same commentators have sought to lump our just completed election with those worldwide in democracies where the electorate has dismissed the ruling party over bread and butter issues.
But, the chief issue of our election wasn’t the economy, nor was it women’s rights, nor was it whether a woman of color could be elected President. The main issue was whether the U.S. would remain a democracy with a constitution, and a large majority voted to end democracy and do away with the U.S. Constitution!
Mr. Trump has already announced that his appointees will assume their respective offices with or without Senate approval. It will matter little who is appointed as they will act only as Mr. Trump directs.
