Maryland State Comptroller Peter Franchot has endorsed Democratic Senator Jim Brochin for Baltimore County Executive.

“As you prepare to head to the polls and vote in the upcoming primary election, I wanted to share with you the reasons why I’m supporting Senator Jim Brochin to be the next Baltimore County Executive,” the Comptroller said in a press release.

“Baltimore County is at a crossroads, and needs a bold, independent leader at the helm to chart a course for a strong future for its citizens. Jim brings 15 years of elected office as an effective lawmaker and a record of results for the people in Baltimore County. Like me, Jim has never been afraid to stand up to the special interests to do what’s right for the people that we proudly serve.”

Franchot then listed common issues he said he and Sen. Brochin have worked on together to achieve:

  • fought sprawl development that threaten our environment and the quality of life of our communities;
  • stood with the thousands of students, parents, and teachers who have demanded healthy, safe, and air-conditioned classrooms in Baltimore County;
  • worked to advance fiscal policies that help working families and small businesses that are the foundation of Maryland’s economy.

“It’s been an honor to have worked with Jim as a Maryland State Senator and I hope to work with him as your next county executive,” Franchot said.
