Councilman Todd Crandell:
Would you care to comment for the record or why you chose not to attend the scheduled debate sponsored by the Women League of Voters?

Subject: Sept. 24 LWV forum update
We were informed today by Councilman Crandell’s campaign office that he has cancelled participation.
A word about our format: it had been our intention to adjust our standard two minute format —for candidate Opening and Closing Statements and answers to questions– to 90 seconds, whenever we had more than 2 candidates. That change would allow a few more questions to be covered. I neglected to make that change when I sent you our standard format outline recenty. So please plan on 90 seconds, rather than 2 minutes. Thank you in advance for your flexibility.
See you on September 24th.
The debate was to be held at the North Point Library on September 24, 2018.
Councilman Crandell’s office did not provide any additional information regarding him no-showing the event.
The Councilman has come under some harsh criticism concerning his involvement with Tradepoint Atlantic and his push for corporate welfare. Councilman Crandell also faced a backlash over his lack of support of support for the North Point Government Center.
The most recent troubling incident for the councilman involved an outburst by his legislative aide, Ron Metzger, who unleashed a profanity-laced diatribe that was captured on video.
The councilman refused to admonish his aide regarding that behavior. This issue was compounded by 7th Republican Delegate Ric Metzgar, who said he believed that the councilman’s aide should have been terminated from his position.
Councilman Crandell has also had to deal with numerous communities complaining about his lack of response to their specific concerns, including the potential illegal dumping of hazardous materials into a manhole located in the Norwood Holabird Community. This incident was also captured on video by residents.
The Baltimore Post has made numerous attempts during the course of Councilman Crandell’s tenure to get a response regarding all of the above-mentioned issues, but we have not been successful.
The Post will make another attempt to contact the councilman to ascertain the reason why he chose not to participate in the LWV debate. We believe his absence is egregious, especially considering the amount of effort the LWV puts into these debate events.
We will keep our readers updated on this matter, as well as publish information from the other debates to be held by the LWV.
