The Dundalk Renaissance Corporation (DRC) in cooperation with other community groups held a “Don’t Trash Our Dundalk Resource Fair,” on Saturday, April 13that the Sollers Point Multipurpose Center and gave local residents from the communities of Turner Station, DunLogan, Old Dundalk, St. Helena, Boston Courts and Gray Manor an opportunity to receive a free or discounted metal trash can with a lid.

In addition to the trash cans, art displays from Dundalk Elementary, Holabird Middle, Eastwood Elementary and Patapsco High schools were also on display.

Also represented at the fair were the Baltimore County Office of Code Enforcement and the Department of Solid Waste Management.

Workshops at the event featured dealing with difficult neighbors and conflict resolution.   Other groups in attendance were the Girl Scouts of Central Maryland and the Community Relations Center from the Johns Hopkins Medical Center.

Leah Bunck of the DRC was very pleased with the turnout and one could easily see the work she put into the fair.

“We gave away over 130 free cans,” Ms. Bunck said.  “We still have 40 left and will sell them for $15 apiece.” For information contact the DRC at (410) 282-0261.

The money raised for the event came via a grant from the Baltimore Community Foundation and local fundraising.
