Over 7 million views and growing
The Baltimore Post sent the following email to Ms. Ellen Kobler asking permission to live stream the Town Hall meeting at Eastern Vocational HS on January 31, 2018, at 6:30 PM:
Baltimore County Executive John Olszewski; Jr.
Dear Mr. Olszewski; Jr.:
The Baltimore Post is planning to live stream the Town Hall meeting via Facebook which is scheduled for January 31, 2019, at the Eastern Vocational H. S. which is located in Essex Maryland.
This particular Town Hall meeting will cover issues that deal with the7th Councilmanic District. This is part of County Executive John Olszewski, Jr.’s scheduled event. Also appearing with the county executive all will be Councilman Todd Crandell.
The Baltimore Post believes that by providing access to the voters of the inner workings of government is an important service provided by the media. In addition, there are many issues that will impact this district for decades to come.
In addition to the live streaming of the meeting, this will give an opportunity for citizens of the 7th District to view the entire meeting which will also be recorded as a matter of record.
If there is any problem regarding this matter please contact The Baltimore Post no later than January 24, 2018.
The Post is planning on an article before the event that will specifically address certain issues regarding this Town Hall Meeting and the 7th District.

We received the following email from Ms. Ellen Kobler:
Good morning Mr. Beeler,
I’m responding to your email below to County Executive Olszewski. The town hall is an open public event, so you are welcome to live stream. We will be live streaming this and the other town halls as well.

That reply was a pleasant surprise, and a breath of fresh air.
The Post believes that the decision by County Executive Olszewski to live stream the meetings is noteworthy and definitely lives up to his pledge of a more transparent and open Baltimore County Government.
However, there is another component to this transparency–that component falls on the shoulders of the electorate. That means the voters must take an informed and active role in the function of county government.
We are hopeful that the upcoming Town Hall meetings will be well attended, especially considering the difficult financial times our county is facing.
The Baltimore Post will provide additional information on how individuals may access the Town Hall meeting live streams when those details are available.
