Boys Athlete of the Week

Delmar White, Spalding, football

Spalding senior Delmar White went above and beyond in the 6-0 Cavaliers’ 51-0 demolition of Gilman on Friday. The one-way defensive lineman rushed for two touchdowns and led the defense with six total tackles (three solo), one tackle for loss and half a sack.

“Delmar has been the ultimate Spalding guy throughout this season both on and off the field. He models the standards of the program by practicing and playing at a high level every day,” Spalding coach Kyle Schmitt said. “He excelled at his role on defense and has evolved into a weapon in our short yardage and goal line packages.”

Girls Athlete of the Week

Spring Terry, Arundel

Junior Spring Terry fueled Arundel volleyball’s season turnaround this week. The outside hitter pummeled rival Broadneck with 13 kills and three blocks in the five-set rally against the then-unbeaten Bruins on Sept. 24, and then struck four kills and two blocks in the Wildcats’ sweep of Crofton on Thursday.

“We are really excited about the way that things are coming together for Spring,” Arundel coach Ashley Yuscavage said. “This is her third year on varsity and she is really stepping up and doing the things that we need her to do. Seeing her play so aggressively against Broadneck was very exciting.
