Produced 60 years ago by WJZ-TV, “This is Baltimore” depicts a city that is focused on positives for the future: growth, industry, and better lives for its citizens.
Imagine what the makers of that video would think as they walk the streets of Baltimore today. Despite what the pols keep trying to sell us, many areas of the city are far from the vision projected in the 195os. The gleaming promise of a better tomorrow has been replaced by violent crime, run-down buildings, and other sad sights.
