Frances E. Martino, a long-time community activist, recently suffered a debilitating stroke and is being treated at the Levindale Rehabilitation Center.
Mrs. Martino was one of the original homebuyers in the Eastfield/Stanbrook Civic Association according to association president Karen Cruz. Mrs. Cruz said Mrs. Martino purchased her home in the mid-1950s and has been active in her church community–St. Rita’s, where she attended Mass daily–and throughout the eastern part of Baltimore County.
Mrs. Martino never backed away from controversy or shied away from expressing her opinions as demonstrated in the following video regarding the potential sale of the North Point Government Center. (Mrs. Martino is the third person seated to the left of Baltimore County Executive Johnny Olszewski.)
The Post contacted Mrs. Martino and had a brief conversation. Despite her health challenges following the stroke, she asked to be kept updated on numerous issues in which she was involved.
In a barely audible voice, Mrs. Martino ended our call with a request for prayers from the community she’s called home for most of her life.
Mrs. Martino recently celebrated her 92nd Birthday.
