Examples of what an FOP should … and SHOULDN’T … stand for

The Fraternal Order of Police should focus on serving its members, not focus on pushing political mandates.

A quick post tonight to provide a comparison between two local Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) lodges. Both are near each other. Both are seeing their membership deal with upswings in violent crime. And both are seeing the effects that the ‘defund the police’ movement had on the rank-and-file officers.

First, let’s look at Baltimore City’s Lodge 3 and it’s Twitter post putting the blame for the continuing violence on those at the top of the city pyramid.

Baltimore City FOP on Twitter: “Another mass shooting in Baltimore this afternoon. 7 people were shot in 1 incident. Multiple others were killed and shot over the weekend. Not enough cops to proactively police. Sad crime plan! #cityincrisis #600copsshort @MayorBMScott @BaltimorePolice @GLFOP / Twitter”

Folks, as a former police officer with decades of experience, this is what police officers expect out of their FOP leadership.

Sadly, that is not what happens in Baltimore County, where Lodge 4 is more concerned with kissing butts than kicking butts.

David Rose on Twitter: “One-third of Baltimore County employees haven’t reported mandated vaccination statushttps://t.co/fj5DAtxMy7 / Twitter”

That is terrible leadership from Dave Rose. Don’t call out Chief Hyatt and Johnny O for not doing what is needed to make the Baltimore County Police Department better. Instead, just pucker up on Johnny O’s behind and shame officers who haven’t given in to the emperor’s vaccine mandate.

The hard working men and women of the BCPD deserve better than the poor excuses for leaders they have at the county, department, and fraternal levels.
