It’s amazing where priorities lie for our so-called leadership in Baltimore County.
Our county executive, Johnny O, is focusing his attention on a shopping mall.
We can’t make up this stuff, folks.
Only a few short months after Johnny unleashed the Baltimore County Police Department on the Towson Town Center to keep shoppers safe, he’s focused his attention on the troubled Security Square Mall property.
Here’s the scoop, straight from Johnny O’s facebook page:
Yes, folks, he’s excited about a fast food chicken restaurant being built at the mall.
We know there will be plenty of Olszewski supporters who will say that Johnny is simply trying to benefit the business community with this latest mall focus. However, we know better since we saw the county executive stand by and do nothing when he played patsy to BLM protesters who were bound and determined to take down a family owned business a few years ago.
So, if you’re keeping score, it’s chain restaurant 1, locally owned business 0.
Folks, shopping malls are dying. That has been proven in this county in Owings Mills and Hunt Valley. Both those malls were in dire straits before they were torn down and replaced with open air shopping centers.
Perhaps instead of being happy that a chicken chain is building another location outside a dying and crime-plagued mall, Johnny O should focus on making a real difference at Security Square. Has he ordered Chief Hyatt to put more police officers at Security Square like he did in Towson?
Of course not. Towson is Johnny O’s ‘crown jewel,’ while Security Square is not even close.
That is readily apparent. The shoppers to the north get police protection while the shoppers to the south get … chicken.
Seems fair, doesn’t it?
