Folks, we almost didn’t believe our eyes.
On the surface, it looked as though our county executive, Commie Johnny O, was finally saying ‘enough is enough’ when it comes to tossing more taxpayer dollars into the Baltimore County Public Schools dumpster fire.
County Executive Johnny Olszewski on Twitter: “I am proud that we have increased education spending more than any prior administration, but I am also mindful of the obligation to spend our residents’ limited tax dollars in a responsible and sustainable way.https://t.co/9Z1GeNafX5 / Twitter”

In an op-ed column for
his shill publication The Sun, Johnny O looked like he was putting his foot down and refusing to throw good money after bad when it comes to the failing school system. Here are a few quotes:
“To be very clear, Baltimore County cannot afford to sustain the increase the Board has proposed, which would require a significant source of new revenue in the coming years — for example, increasing the County’s property tax by 17 cents, costing most residents thousands of dollars. I can say with confidence that our residents have no appetite for such an increase and, as county executive, it is not an option I will entertain.”
“School board leaders have said they are prioritizing their people — they can and should do that by finding efficiencies in their $2.3 billion budget in order to fund the balance of these salary increases.”
“Rather than making unsustainable promises, we need our school system leaders to also operate within the bounds of what is possible.”
Sounds pretty tough, eh?
But is it really?
While Commie Johnny is stating that he won’t raise taxes (a common election year promise that is often broken by most pols) and wants the BCPS leaders to ‘find efficiencies’ in their $2.3 BILLION budget, he stops short of holding BCPS leadership accountable for wasting so many county tax dollars.
Where is the criticism of the bloated BCPS administration? Where is the demand for more transparency and accountability? Where is the outrage over the increased school violence? Where is the denouncement of BCPS teachers pushing the liberal agenda through the teaching of CRT?
Instead of stating facts, he rammed more campaign rhetoric down our throats. All the self-back-patting about raising salaries means NOTHING when the school system is worse off now than it was when the county executive first took office.
Earlier this year, when most of the county council issued a letter calling for the removal of BCPS Superintendent Darryl Williams, FORMER TEACHER (in case he hasn’t reminded you lately) Commie Johnny stayed silent on the matter. As usual, he remained neutral to try and pacify both sides of the issue, which is NOT what a strong leader should do.
This latest outburst in the Sun was nothing more than a stunt. In fact, he put the onus on the school board rather than on BCPS administration where it belongs.
Simply put, Johnny O is giving us 2.3 billion reasons to think twice about voting for him in November. He’s not adding to that number, but he really doesn’t have to throw more gasoline on that dumpster fire to show that he’s not the leader Baltimore County needs to make real improvements.
