There are 75,000 college players currently engaged in playing football in the US. Out of those 75,000, only 1% will go to play in the NFL.
The stats are grim. College players will suffer CTE at a rate of 91% while those in the NFL will face an even more cruel death at 99%.
Christian Petersen/Getty Images The Concussion Legacy Foundation released a study Wednesday that revealed former college football players from over 100 programs had chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE). In total, 138 former football players out of 152 studied at the VA-BU-CLF Brain Bank, or 91 percent, were diagnosed with the degenerative brain disease.
