For Johnny O, police accountability only pertains to the rank and file and NOT the so-called leadership

Once again, Johnny O shows that he’s as two-faced as the Grand Canyon is wide.

Case in point: police accountability.

The county executive wore a s**t-eating grin when he happily crowed on WBAL-AM’s C4 and Bryan Nehman Show about the newly appointed police accountability board.

Baltimore County Exec. Olszewski talks about newly formed police accountability board Tuesday, September 20, 2022 Katie Ryan, WBAL NewsRadio 1090 and FM 101.5 Baltimore County has approved members of the new police accountability board. Eight members currently make up the county’s first-ever police accountability board and Baltimore County Executive Johnny Olszewski told C4 and Bryan Nehman on Tuesday that the nominees were confirmed unanimously.

And he’s quick to demand an investigation whenever a rank and file cop is accused of any type of wrongdoing:

The Baltimore Sun on Twitter: “Baltimore County Executive Johnny Olszewski Jr. has requested a review of the actions of a county police officer captured on video punching a person he is straddling on the ground during an arrest. https://t.co/gdsZYiLA3v / Twitter”

But that demand for accountability and transparency from the Baltimore County Police Department stops cold when it moves up the food chain.

For example, where is the accountability for Chief Melissa Hyatt’s public information staff, who have repeatedly flat-out ignored public information requests from The Baltimore Post, Fox 45, and other media outlets.

Where is the accountability for Chief Hyatt when the ‘data’ she releases about crime statistics supposedly going down doesn’t match what’s actually happening in the county?

Where is the accountability when the Fraternal Order of Police, which represents the rank and file officers’ interests, issues a vote of ‘no confidence’ against Chief Hyatt only to be ignored by both the chief and the county executive?

It seems Johnny O wants investigations, transparency, and accountability for the hard-working men and women in the streets but not for those who park their butts in administrative offices.

We’ve labeled him Commie Johnny, Johnny ‘NO,’ and plenty of other (fitting) nicknames in the past. Now we can add another to the list:
