There is a not-so-old idiom that states, “Don’t ask questions you don’t want to know the answer to.”

While not quite grammatically correct, that saying certainly can hit home for a lot of people. In fact, it very well might apply to Councilman Todd Crandell, whose supporters posted a poll question on the councilman’s political Facebook page: “Do you recommend Todd Crandell?”

There is good news and bad news as it pertains to this “self-inflicted” poll. First, the good news is that the overall rating for the question is 5.0.

However, the bad news regarding that rating is that only 3 people voted in the councilman’s own poll.

That is hardly a majority, folks.

This is the same politician who, according to The Dundalk Eagle, was the crème de la crème out of all the politicos in the area. There are 4,657 supporters on his site, of which only 3 took the time to vote in the poll. The rest were, frankly, indifferent when it comes to showing support for Mr. Crandell.

How embarrassing is that? This is often referred to as “shooting oneself in the foot.”

There is one more troubling aspect to this matter that deals with the rather dated background photo of the councilman and his supporters. This photo was taken during the first election when then-candidate Crandell promised to fight and save the North Point Government Center following the county’s attempt to sell the property to a developer.

After being elected to the council, Mr. Crandell turned his back on the people he promised to support regarding the government center.

The Baltimore Post could not find one word about the North Point Government Center on the councilman’s Facebook page. That is hardly what you call giving support to your constituents.

The Post has received several complaints from people in the photograph who question why Mr. Crandell continues to use the outdated photo. Our guess is that he wished to imply that he still represents these people and fights for their interests.

The facts state otherwise.
