Video shows brawl inside county school

The Baltimore Post has been sent a video that originally appeared on Facebook depicting a fight between two students at a Baltimore County Public School. The fight was serious enough to require a school resource officer’s intervention.

As always, the Post followed up with school officials via email. The message below was sent to Mychael Dickerson, spokesperson for BCPS, seeking a comment:

Mychael Dickerson

Dear Mr. Dickerson:

We are in possession of a video regarding fight that took place at XXX that originally appeared on Facebook.  Anything posted on FB is considered public domain.

We will do our best to eliminate additional footage not related to the fight.

Do you wish to comment on this? What, if any, action was taken by BCPS to deal with this type of violence?

Our IT department is in the process of editing the video to protect the identities of students not involved in the altercation.

We believe that this type of behavior is systemic in the BCPS system. To that end, parents and taxpayers need to be made aware of such things.

The Post will wait until tomorrow to distribute the video. We only do so in the interest of promoting safety within the BCPS system.

Stay tuned…
