One of the great Christmas traditions is under siege in Essex, Maryland. The traditional visit of Santa Claus riding atop the Essex Volunteer Fire department vehicle was egged as it drove-through the Cedar Valley Place Sunday night.

WJZ TV first reported this incident.

This is a holiday tradition featuring volunteer fire departments across the country attempting to bring a little Christmas cheer, especially to many underprivileged children. Many of these volunteer first responders spend hours of their own time and money in this effort to spread a little Christmas cheer. That is what makes this attack so egregious. However, it gets worse.

In the initial report involving the egging of the fire truck that carried Santa Claus, the EVFC stated they were going to reevaluate their traditional holiday event because of other citizen complaints in the area.

The Essex Precinct and advised there was no report written on the incident. The EVFC did not report the matter to the police department but posted the incident on their Facebook site.
