While President Donald Trump is above ground in the White House fighting the coronavirus, his presumed Democratic opponent, Joe Biden, is hiding below ground.
Folks, that just doesn’t sit well with us.
History demonstrates that many of the world’s great leaders were born out of conflict and “baptized” by combat, as seen through their leadership in times of war.
From Julius Caesar to Winston Churchill to Dwight Eisenhower to JFK, great leaders all had one thing in common–they led their nations through examples of trial by fire.
Marcus Ulpius Trajanus (53 –117 AD) is one of the consecutive Five Good Emperors. He was the most successful military man in Roman history, expanding the Empire to its greatest extent.
And let’s not forget the women who joined the fight in the war to end all wars–World War II. Who could forget the following image of Rosie the Riveter:
My, how times have changed.
In the war against the coronavirus, many men and women are serving on the front lines as doctors and nurses fighting to save lives while risking their own.
They don’t have the time to sit in a mansion and enjoy ice cream and chocolates.
Some may say this nation is fighting its greatest battle since World War II. Yet, some of our so-called “leaders” are more concerned with partisan battles and self preservation than representing (and protecting) our citizens.
In one of the great movie lines uttered by Clint Eastwood in Dirty Harry as he stood over a bank robber, “You’ve got to ask yourself a question…”
The Post questions those in congress who choose to shelter (or coward) in place during the crisis. We just don’t see how they can win a war from the basements of their gated multi-million dollar homes. The Post believes the political elite sheltering themselves away during the pandemic is an act of extreme cowardice.
Regardless of what you may think of President Trump and VP Mike Pence, they are still manning their posts at the White House and other locations while they are serving the American people.
Someone should tell Joe Biden that it’s time to come out of his basement. If he wants to lead a nation during wartime, he has to stay on the front lines like President Trump.
