John was a community activist and devoted husband
John C. Spatafore Jr., former Marine and Bethlehem Steel supervisor, beloved husband of Irene Spatafore passed away at Johns Hopkins Hospital on June 12th after an injury sustained in a fall.
Both John and his wife Irene of 60 years were residents of Dunallk their entire marriage.
Irene said, that John was always by her side especially in her great passion and concern for her cause Angels Supporting our Troops while she carried her kettle seeking donations.
John served in the Marine Corps during the Korean War. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus in addition to working with the Boy Scouts of America for 12 years.
John and Irene were often seen at the various Dundalk community meetings and events. I never remember not seeing them at this various events.
John was always by his wife’s side especially when Irene carried her kettle seeking donations for her project of sending various items overseas to our troops.
I can never remember an event where I did not see John and Irene in attendance. They were probably two of the more familiar faces in the Dundalk community.
Our condolences go out to the Spatafore family. John will be missed.
The viewing will be at the Duda-Ruck Funeral Home of Dundalk on Sunday 3-5 and 7-9 pm.
The Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Hope Church on Monday at 10 am followed by interment at St. Stanislaus Cemetery.
