The Baltimore Post made a deliberate decision not to endorse political candidates.  Even as a small – but rapidly growing – news agency, we believe doing so interferes with democracy.

How does it interfere with democracy?  In our view, it is because it is asking you, the reader, not to think — and instead to just follow our advice.

As a news agency, we do not feel it is our job to give you advice.

In short: we are not in the advice-giving business; we are in the news business.

We believe that your vote, through whatever means you arrive at your decision, is a personal choice.

While we will not offer you advice, our pledge to you is that we will give you the facts to the best of our abilities. We will be objective. We will hold the government accountable.  We will always aim to be better than we were the day before.  But we will not ask you not to think.

What do you think?
