Senator’s press release calls for accountability regarding Dr. Dance

It looks like another elected official in government is finally calling for some accountability regarding our BCPS as we see in this press release from State Senator Johnny Ray Salling.
Trust me when I say there are other issues still there that Dr. Dance will have to account for so without further adieu, read on.
Dundalk, MD) — My concern with Dr. Dance isn’t just about a single tweet or re-tweet, it’s about a system which isn’t working. A school system with a leader who cares more about his side jobs than the children that we have placed in his care. It’s about a non-functioning Board of Education which rubber stamps most things that comes across their desk. You cannot be a successful leader through intimidation and retaliation, with a failed sense of ethics. This is about the change which is needed to get the school system back on track and to service the needs of our communities.
Rather than focusing on impressing academic elites and teaching graduate courses, our Superintendent, whom taxpayers pay 300,000+ a year, should focus on putting the school system in better shape than it was given to him and devote himself to our 111,127 students and the 8,904 teachers.
Moving forward, it is my hope that the superintendent will do the following:
- Address the problem of deteriorating facilities
- Establish an immediate solution for the lack of air conditioning in schools
- Fix the poorly implemented grading policy
- Examine the questionable STAT program
- Devote 100% of professional time to BCPS
If he can’t do the job, step down so our school system can flourish.
