One week after filling an EEOC complaint regarding a hostile work environment and sexual harassment, the complainant Ms.Tomika Grant was transferred from her custodial job at Baltimore County’s Property Management, located in Glen Arm and transferred to the Eastern Family Resource Center (EFRC) in Rosedale.  Ms.Grant was given one days notice via a letter on county stationary, see (PDF file).

Ms. Grant stated she received the written notice announcing the transfer on Monday, September 24st to report to her new job site located in Rosedale on September 25th.  The letter makes no reference for the reason for the transfer.  Ms. Grant said the county was aware of her position with having two children and the scheduling conflict prior to the transfer.

Ms. Grant called this blogger in tears and was having difficulty in dealing with the stress.  She subsequently called her grandmother a retired Maryland State Police Lt. who was able to get her granddaughter under control emotionally.  Ms. Grant’s grandmother then called the Director of Baltimore County Humane Resources, George Gay and included her granddaughter in the three-way call with Mr. Gay.

According to the grandmother, Mr. Gay told her he would send supervisors down to EFRC in Rosedale to check on her wellbeing.

Tomika said the manager at EFRC wanted Tomika to go home after confirming with the nurse at the EFRC.  At this point Ms. Grant stated that one of the supervisors present questioned the nurse’s decision.

Ms. Grant further stated after arriving 45 minutes late she was greeted with  profanity by one of the county supervisors.  Ms. Grant informed the supervisor that she was not familiar with the east side of the county and got lost.

After this encounter Ms. Grant was told to take sick leave for Wednesday and Thursday.  She further stated that went to her physician and took off sick on Friday.

While leaving the EFRC to go home Ms. Grant allegedly heard one of the supervisors make a comment regarding her mental stability.
