Read Time:1 Minute, 21 Second

“She was such an admirable person.”

Former Prime Minister to the United Kingdom, Liz Truss, reflected solemnly as she recounted her firsthand observations during the final days of Queen Elizabeth II’s life, giving a detailed account of the circumstances that hinted at the late Queen’s deteriorating health.

For instance, Truss shared a particularly telling incident that caused concern for her.

“At 6 o’clock we were told the Queen wouldn’t be able to … attend [an event] virtually from Balmoral. And that’s when I thought, ‘Uh dear, if she’s not able to do that, that is a bad sign.’”

Truss also detailed the trip she and her husband made to Balmoral in the weeks leading up to the Queen’s death.

“The whole week was completely extraordinary. The weather had been very bad on the day that I was due to see her majesty. She was in Balmoral because she wasn’t very well. And that was the first bad sign, I had to fly to Balmoral. My husband and I flew through a storm, and there was only one moment where the sky opened up with a tiny hole that the plane could fly through in order to land. At some points during the flight we did not think we were going to land near Balmoral in Scotland.”
