Here’s a look at some of the top teams and players in Baltimore County.

Hot streaks

Teams that are playing at the top of their games

Towson baseball: The Generals won their ninth straight game Wednesday, a 10-0 shutout of Dulaney, which entered on a five-game winning streak. It was Towson’s second straight shutout coming off a 5-0 win over Perry Hall on Monday.

Pikesville boys lacrosse: The Panthers are undefeated in Division II and 6-2 overall. They’re on a three-game winning streak, scoring wins of 17-1 over Owings Mills and 16-1 over Kenwood. Their latest win, though, was a 13-12 thriller over Eastern Tech.

Dundalk softball: The Owls have won four straight and six of their past seven. During the winning streak, they’re averaging 14 runs per game. Meanwhile, the pitching held Catonsville to one run and Patapsco to one and two runs, respectively, in a doubleheader. Their most recent win is 12-7 over Hereford.

Loch Raven girls lacrosse: The Raiders have won four straight games, beating Owings Mills, Kenwood, Franklin and Lansdowne by a combined score of 69-19. They are 7-1 overall and unbeaten in Division II entering a key stretch of divisional games.

Players who have been clutch performers for their teams

Kate Roberson, Catonsville, girls lacrosse: Roberson has totaled 10 goals in her past two games, including seven in a one-goal win over Towson last Thursday.

Connor Dow, Dulaney, baseball: The junior led the Lions to a win Tuesday against Sparrows Point, allowing one run on one hit in 6 1/3 innings while striking out 16. This is coming off a five-inning, one-hit, 10-strikeout performance last week vs. Franklin.

Loch Raven boys lacrosse senior Collin Nadolny makes splash coaching Special Olympics sailing

Ojigwe Olua, Western Tech, boys track and field: The Wolverines’ hurdler won the 110 hurdles at the Sam Singleton Scorpion Classic in a personal-best time 14.47 seconds. He also finished second in the 300 hurdles at the meet. 

Alli Henning, Loch Raven, girls lacrosse: Henning has scored 10 goals and assisted on five others in the Raiders’ past four games. She also collected eight ground balls in last Thursday’s win over Kenwood and has picked up a total of 22 draw controls in wins over the Blue Birds, Indians and Vikings.

Denver Shields, New Town, boys track and field: The senior set a personal record to win the 100-meter dash at the Under Armour Black and Blue Invitational in 10.77 seconds. He also placed second in the 200.

Grace Berquist, Hereford, girls lacrosse: Berquist has been the anchor of a stingy Bulls defense that has allowed less than 10 goals in seven of eight games. She most recently stopped 9 of 15 shots in a 7-6 win over Towson on Tuesday.

Abigail Schwartz-Mitchell, Eastern Tech, girls lacrosse: Schwartz-Mitchell scored four goals and assisted on two more during Tuesday’s win over Carver A&T. On the season, she has 22 goals and three assists.

A numbers game

0.4 — points separating first-place Hereford (140) from second-place Urbana (139.6) for the boys team championship at last Thursday’s Kayley Milor Twilight Meet at Urbana.

4 — Runs Perry Hall softball was trailing by against Carver A&T with two outs in the seventh inning last Thursday. The Gators won, 8-6, in eight innings.

5 — Players on Loch Raven girls lacrosse who have scored at least 14 goals through the team’s first eight games this season.

8 — Runs Pikesville baseball scored in the bottom of the second inning Friday against Sparrows Point, only to be answered by eight runs by the Pointers in the top of the third. Sparrows Point won, 15-8.

12 — Players who scored runs for Kenwood baseball in its 21-3 win over Loch Raven on Monday. 

24 — Goals Towson boys lacrosse has given up in its past eight games combined, an average of just three per game.
