[Baltimore Sun] Early voting begins Thursday in Carroll County

The presidential primary election officially kicks off Thursday, as voters begin casting ballots in early voting at three locations in Carroll County. Early voting continues through May 9.

Early voting will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. each day at the following locations:

Westminster Senior Center, 125 Stoner Ave., Westminster
South Carroll Senior Center, 5928 Mineral Hill Road, Sykesville
Coppermine PantherPlex, 1400 Panther Drive, Hampstead

Early voting is open to anyone, according to the Carroll County Board of Elections; residents can update their address or register to vote, if needed.

There are 129,226 registered voters in Carroll County, as of March, according to the county’s Board of Elections.

Of those registered, there are 33,173 Democrats, 63,488 Republicans and 30,368 unaffiliated voters. The Libertarian Party has 852 voters, the No Label Movement has four and 1,341 are considered “other.”

Meanwhile, if using regular mail to request an application for a mail-in ballot, the deadline is 8 p.m. on May 7. If requesting a mail-in ballot application by email or fax, the deadline is 11:59 p.m. on May 7.

If using the internet to request an application for a mail-in ballot, the deadline is 5 p.m. May 10. If the request for an application is made by email or fax, the deadline is 11:59 p.m. on May 10.

Applications for mail-in ballots can also be delivered to the office of the Carroll County Board of Elections, 300 S. Center St., Room 212 in Westminster. Mail-in ballots will be ready for pick up by 8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 14.

All mail-in ballot drop boxes close at 8 p.m. on May 14.

The primary election will be held 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on May 14.

Early voting in the general election will be Oct. 24-31. Election Day is Nov. 5.
