[Baltimore Sun] Harford Tech track and field sweeps UCBAC Chesapeake Division championships

As expected, Harford Tech won both boys and girls titles in the UCBAC Chesapeake Division Track and Field Championships at Edgewood on Thursday. It was the 11th division title for the girls and fourth for the boys.

The girls won eight events to leave the seven other teams far behind. The boys won six events but had to worry about Bel Air and Edgewood. Edgewood also won six boys events. The final score for the top three boys teams: Tech 177, Bel Air 169 and Edgewood 126.

Madisen Morgan led the Tech girls with three wins: the 100 dash (12.85), long jump (15.8) and triple jump (35-3). Winter Evans was a double winner in the 100 hurdles (14.99) and high jump (4-8). Destiny Baker won the 300 hurdles (44.81) and Destiny Boyd won the 200 dash (26.91). The 4×200 team won in 1:52.93.

Justin Febles and Khory Reevey were double winners for the Tech boys — Febles in the 100 (11.08) and 200 (22.30) and Reevey in the 110 hurdles (15.21) and 300 hurdles (40.33).

Tech’s Alex Wockenfuss set a school record in winning the 400 in 49.71. It was the first of two school records he set during the week. On Friday, he ran 1:57.6 in winning the 800 in the Maverick Madness meet at Manchester Valley. Robert Bonhoff won the pole vault at 11-6.

Patterson Mill finished second and Bel Air third in the girls scoring.

The Huskies’ Leila Sollas won the 400 in a PR 1:00.44. Bel Air’s Gianna Dawson won the 800, breaking 2:20 for the first time with a 2:19.13. North Harford’s Korynn Sims won the pole vault at 9-0, and Mallory McCartney, the 1,600 in 5:42.64.

The Edgewood boys’ six wins came from Darian Walters in the 1,600 (4:41.05); Evan Oldewurtel, the 3,200 (10:37.28); Jacob Martin, long jump (21-0); and three relays: 4×100 (43.71), 4×200 (1:32.33) and 4×800 (4:28.93). For the Edgewood girls, Brielle Whitworth won the 3,200 in 1:22.32.

For Bel Air, Cody Bazemore won the triple jump (42-9) and Charles Hammond, the 800 (2:03.07). Bel Air won the boys 4×400 (3:35.63), girls 4×400 (4:23.27), and girls 4×800 (10:03.06). Patterson Mill won the girls 4×100 (52.09).
