[Baltimore Sun] A smarter approach to speed cameras around schools | READER COMMENTARY
Read Time:33 Second
I am in support of speed cameras in school zones when their location makes sense (“Want safer roads? Allow speed cameras in more places and raise the fines,” Jan. 30).
The speed camera on Lakeside Boulevard in Owings Mills is located 0.2 miles from the schools at the bottom of a hill. As each motorist passes the camera, they speed up toward the school at the top of the hill.
The camera ought to instead be at the top of the hill where many students cross Lakeside.
